Ukraine’s Maritime Corridor Gains Momentum: Nearly 7,500 Vessels Have Already Used Odesa Ports
Since the launch of Ukraine’s maritime corridor in August 2023, 7,447 vessels have passed through it, carrying 192 million tonnes of cargo. The figures were announced by First Deputy Minister for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine Alona Shkrum during the 10th Three Seas Initiative Summit.
For Ukraine, access to the Black Sea is more than a trade issue - it is a matter of economic resilience. With part of the coastline under occupation, the country currently relies on a limited number of operating ports, including Odesa, Chornomorsk, Pivdennyi and the Danube ports in the Odesa region.

The scale is significant: around 20,000 ships pass through the Suez Canal annually, while Ukraine’s corridor operates under military risks, infrastructure attacks and constant security coordination.
