British supermarkets are facing significant supply chain disruptions due to a cyberattack on a US-based SaaS company that manages supply chain systems. The incident occurred on November 21 and has impacted operations of retailers like Morrisons and Sainsbury's.
Sainsbury's representatives stated that the service has been restored but did not provide details on the duration of the outage or the consequences of the cyberattack. Morrisons reported that they are operating on backup systems to ensure the supply of fresh and frozen products nationwide.
Suppliers are complaining about the inability to replenish stock in a timely manner, which could lead to product availability dropping below 60%. Cybersecurity experts warn that this is the second attack in the past month that has significantly affected food supplies in the UK.
So far, no hacker group has claimed responsibility for the attack, but specialists do not rule out the involvement of foreign intelligence services.
