From August 20 – No International Trips Without “Code 95”

Starting August 20, 2025, all Ukrainian drivers engaged in international cargo and passenger transportation must hold a Driver Qualification Card - known as “Code 95”. This requirement is part of Ukraine’s alignment with European transport standards.

What is “Code 95”?
It’s an official certification confirming professional driver training, allowing the holder to:

transport goods over 3.5 tonnes (categories “C”, “E”);
carry passengers (category “D”).

The card is valid for 5 years and must be renewed through refresher training. Holding “Code 95” not only meets EU regulations but also speeds up border crossing - in EU countries, such drivers undergo fewer checks.

How to get it?
Training is available in around 20 accredited centers in Ukraine, with four certified centers located in Kyiv, Dnipro, Lviv, and Mukachevo.
The duration depends on experience:

Full course (up to 1 month) - for drivers who obtained a category “C” licence after 10.09.2009 or “D” after 10.08.2008.
Refresher course (5 days) - required every 5 years to extend validity.
Additional course - when upgrading licence categories.

Experienced drivers typically complete training in about a week, while newcomers (licence issued after 2021) may need up to 2 months. Theoretical modules can be studied online, but practical exams must be taken in person.

Required documents:

passport with registered address;
driving licence;
tax ID;
photo.

Important detail:
The Ukrainian “Code 95” is not valid in Poland. To work there, drivers must complete local training and obtain a Polish certificate.
