Ukraine prepares strategy to reopen its airspace

The Ukrainian government is developing a step-by-step plan for the future reopening of the country’s airspace. The process is being prepared regardless of how and when peace negotiations conclude - yet officials emphasize that full cessation of hostilities and guaranteed safety remain the key prerequisites for resuming civil aviation.

For now, the government is conducting in-depth market analysis to prepare for different future scenarios - ensuring that air traffic can be restored without unnecessary delays once conditions allow.

A new Civil Aviation and Airspace Development Strategy until 2030 is currently being drafted. It will outline the main steps for restoring aviation infrastructure, upgrading airports, and integrating Ukraine back into the global air transport system.

Minister of Communities and Territories Development Maryna Denysiuk highlighted:

> “It’s essential to preserve all aviation infrastructure so that Ukraine can reopen its airspace immediately once it becomes safe.”
