Moldova Introduces Pre-Booking System for Border Crossings: BQS Launches January 30

Starting January 30, 2025, Moldova will pilot a new border-crossing system for freight trucks based on prior bookings. This initiative, introduced by the Moldovan Customs Service, aims to streamline border processes and reduce queues significantly.  

 

Initially, the system will operate at the Costești customs post, with plans to expand to other border points in the future. Drivers and transport companies will be able to schedule their border crossings via the BQS digital platform, accessible on both computers and mobile apps (available on App Store and Play Store - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=bqs.customs.md&hl=uk).  

 

According to Alexander Yakub, Director of the Moldovan Customs Service, this innovative system will make border crossings faster, more transparent, and more convenient. The new platform is expected to reduce waiting times by up to 90%.  

 

Every month, approximately 30,000 freight trucks cross the Moldova-Romania border. The BQS platform was developed with the support of USAID Moldova as part of the country's institutional reform program.
