Germany is preparing for one of the largest infrastructure overhauls in its modern history. Finance Minister Lars Klingbeil has announced a government plan to invest €500 billion exclusively into domestic modernization projects.
According to dpa, a special advisory council will be created to ensure efficient allocation of funds. The council will include government officials, regional politicians, scientists, and experts in transport, construction, and energy. It will be chaired by well-known entrepreneur Harald Christ. Its mission: to evaluate projects from multiple perspectives and ensure the best possible implementation.
“Every euro spent should have a tangible impact. I want these investments to improve people’s daily lives in a noticeable way,” Klingbeil emphasized.
The council will operate on a voluntary basis but will report to the Ministry of Finance every six months with recommendations and evaluations.
