European Truck Movement Restrictions: April 30 to May 4, 2025 – What You Need to Know

May holidays are approaching — and so are freight restrictions.
If your cargo is crossing borders between April 30 and May 4, 2025, you need to plan around heavy truck bans in most EU countries. These regulations apply to vehicles over 12 tonnes and can cause major delivery disruptions if ignored.

Wednesday, April 30
- Croatia: 15:00–23:00
- France: 22:00–00:00
- Greece: 16:00–22:00
- Luxembourg (to France): 21:30–00:00
- Luxembourg (to Germany): 23:30–00:00
- Poland: 18:00–22:00 (*selected roads only)
- Romania: 16:00–22:00
- Hungary: 22:00–00:00

Thursday, May 1 — Labour Day
A major day of restrictions:
- Austria, Germany, France, Italy, Hungary, Slovenia, Slovakia, Luxembourg: mostly from 00:00–22:00
- Poland: 08:00–22:00
- Greece: 08:00–13:00
- Czech Republic: 13:00–22:00
- Romania: 06:00–22:00 (*check road sections)

Friday, May 2
- Poland: 18:00–22:00
- Slovenia: 08:00–22:00

Saturday, May 3
- Austria: 15:00–00:00
- France: 22:00–00:00
- Luxembourg (to France): 21:30–00:00
- Luxembourg (to Germany): 23:30–00:00
- Poland: 08:00–22:00
- Hungary: 22:00–00:00

Sunday, May 4
- Austria, Germany, France, Switzerland, Italy, Slovakia, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Greece, Liechtenstein, Hungary:
Full or partial bans, mostly from 00:00–22:00

🛑 Additional Notes

- Austria, Liechtenstein, and Switzerland enforce night bans (22:00–05:00).
- Hungary may allow a “night window” after 22:00 — subject to local announcements.
- Slovakia sometimes adds last-minute exceptions — check local sources.
- Norway does not restrict truck traffic during holidays but introduces special high-traffic lanes (tungtrafikkfelt) for vehicles >7.5 tonnes.
