By August 20, 2025, all Ukrainian drivers involved in international transport must complete their professional training and obtain the Code 95 certificate. This requirement follows the updated licensing procedure for international carriers introduced in June 2024.
What is Code 95?
Code 95 is a qualification card confirming that a driver is trained to operate freight vehicles over 3.5 tons (categories “C”, “D”, and “E”) for international transport. The certificate is issued as a plastic card and remains valid for 5 years, after which it must be renewed through refresher courses.
The training is conducted in four certified centers located in Kyiv, Lviv, Dnipro, and Mukachevo.
Types of Courses:
Full Course – required for drivers who obtained category “C” licenses after September 10, 2009, or category “D” licenses after August 10, 2008. Duration: up to 1 month. Refresher Course – a 5-day program for drivers who have completed the full course 5 years ago or received their licenses before the mentioned dates. Additional Course – for drivers who already have Code 95 but need certification for another license category.
Important Note
The Ukrainian Code 95 is valid across the EU, but not in Poland. Drivers must undergo additional training to obtain a Polish Code 95.
