Chernivtsi–Suceava Euro-gauge Railway: Ukraine takes another step closer to seamless EU logistics
In 2026, Ukraine is set to launch a new infrastructure project with strong European significance — the construction of a Euro-gauge railway line between Chernivtsi and Suceava, Romania. Deputy Minister of Finance, Oleksandr Kava, shared the announcement at a recent conference, noting that feasibility studies are currently underway.
This development positions Chernivtsi as the second Ukrainian regional center — after Uzhhorod — to gain a direct Euro-gauge railway connection *within the city*. It’s a move with powerful implications not only for passengers but especially for cross-border logistics and trade.
Meanwhile, another major project — the Chop–Uzhhorod Euro-gauge line — is already under construction and expected to launch in summer 2025.
